After spending two nights at Palmetto Island State Park in Louisiana, which we really enjoyed because of the newness of the park, very few people there and abundant bird life. We were finally heading west into Texas where we stayed at a Walmart in Sequin, east of San Antonio, Texas. Along the way we drove through oil refinery country in Louisiana and Texas.
Had our first ferry ride, were caught in heavy rain and traffic in Houston. That was fun.

PeeWee on his first ferry ride crossing the Calcaseu Channel for $1 fee.
Here we were in the heart of oil refineries and off-shore oil rigs. |

A quick stop on Holly Beach, known locally as the Cajun Riviera, on the
Gulf of Mexico. All the homes were destroyed in 2005 by hurricane Katrina. |
|
Free overnights on the beach are permitted, but we passed - another time. |

That's some high-rise! People live in trailers as they rebuild. |

Texas - we have arrived! |

This is the reason we didn't spend our day touring San Antonio, rain and
thunderstorms were imminent. Looked forward to the Riverwalk and the Alamo. |
