Newfoundland - 16-17/14 - Tablelands and Green Point NP

Saturday, August 16

Today was a hiking day at the Tablelands in Gros Morne NP. Suspension bridge over Wallace Brook.

We took in a guided 2 hour hike and what a fantastic amount of information on the unique land formations

Butterwort plant

Carniverous Pitcher plant

The Pitcher plant is the provincial flowere

Limestone pool

Years of calcium build-up

Southeast Brook Falls

Our site at Green Point NP, only steps away from the trail and water.

The Coastal Trail was a 8km hike along the gulf. This was part of the old Mail Trail using dog sleds from years past, that connected remote fishing villages.

Trail led through the Tuckamore - dwarf forests of stunted windswept trees.

Sunday, August 17

Green Point NP campsite for two nights. Today is somebody's birthday.

Dolphin remains

Out on the Coastal Trail hike. About 8 km.

There are red chairs placed in scenic locations all across NFLD

A sense of humour

Neither one has a future

Lots of little garden plots scattered about

Picked clean

Projects everywhere

Town of Rocky Harbour

Celebrated Grace's birthday with a fancy meal at the Ocean View Restaurant. Cheers!

Did a hike to the Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse.

A singsong led by a park staffer.

Perched high on the rocks

A great trail that led down to the water and very interesting rock formations.
