Tombstone and Bisbee, AZ

Wednesday, Feburary 26 to Thursday, February 27, 2014

After leaving Patagonia State Park, we made our way to the historic town of Tombstone, where we had to take in the must see OK Corral's big gun fight and walk the town that 'is too tough to die'. Very touristy but you have to see it once. Finished our day at the Queen Mine RV Park in Bisbee, which is a very unique, artsy, old hippie, and eclectic town built into the hills.
(Finally updating the info for this post at Chisos Basin in Big Bend National Park from the lodge)

Miles and miles of open desert

Tombstone is known ad the 'town too tough to die'.

Out on good behaviour

The town is best known for the O.K. Corral gunfight

Geronimo was the last Apache to surrender

Reenactment of the big gunfight with the Earp brothers

Guns were blazing

Grace and the Earp brothes

Chow time

It was all about the gunfight and history of the old west

Had a great meal that was served by gun toting waiters and buxom saloon girls

Yeah, I know...

...but we just had to

Checking to see if they had a job opening for a photographyer

I remember this very very well

They offered 1881 copies of the actual gunfight reports.

A contrast in time!

Just your typical street scene

Don't mess with me

Our stop for the night in Bisbee, AZ.

The town was set into the hills

Another great spot with a view...

...and looking the other way from the park

A colourfull evening market

A fun place just to 'happen upon' and see some of the local characters

Kind of out there!

Wouldn't you be proud to drive this?

Talk about high rises!

Blossoms starting to pop out

Wouldn't want to live with this pile of rocks hanging over me

Downtown Bisbee had many upscale art studios

Time for the noon mine tour

Model of an old mine

Ready to ride the train deep into the mine

A natural miner

Excellent information from the tour guide who actually worked the mine while it was operating. It closed in 1975.

Cooper and other mineral can still be seen

Learned about the drilling operations

Hang on!

One of several stops

What's left after the mine close years ago
